Medieval spirituality for the postmodern world—sharing authentic texts, serious scholarship, and sincere commentary to help us rediscover reality.
The Via Mediaevalis newsletter exists because the culture of the Middle Ages is a source of life-changing wisdom, beauty, passion, and interior peace for people and communities of the twenty-first century. I hope that it finds a broad audience—there will be interest and inspiration for those who enjoy learning about history, literature, philosophy, education, spirituality, Christian culture, and the visual arts.
Please note that most new posts for Via Mediaevalis are now sent through my primary newsletter, Poetic Knowledge.
All posts are researched, written, and produced by me, Dr. Robert Keim. I earned a PhD in Renaissance poetry and drama after undergraduate and graduate study in literature, linguistics, mathematics, physics, Spanish, history, and pedagogy. I’ve practiced small-scale agriculture and explored traditional lifestyles in four states and one foreign country, and now I’m a teacher, a poet, a ballet dancer, an author of books and numerous essays, and a secular brother of the Oratory of St. Philip Neri in London.
