Good of you to recall Leo I (and in a splendid, grounded imagining). Much of the comment on Leo XIV has relied on describing Leo XIII, and it’s great to see the older namesake in detail.
I remember reading an account of Pope St Leo approaching Attila’s camp in procession with the Blessed Sacrament — Attila sees the procession from afar, with the sun gleaming like fire on the golden monstrance, held immediately in front of the saint’s face, illuminating the One, True conqueror of souls and King of the Universe.
